In winters, every year, there is a silence in Kedarnath. Keeping this in mind, this time NIM initiated winter tourism in Kedarnath. For this, a group of 50 people from educational and social institutes of Dehradun will go to Kedarnath on first week of November.
This will be first group that will go to Kedarnath for trekking during winters. NIM has taken the responsibility to provide complete assistance and guidance to the group. The group will not only visit Kedarnath, but also visit Chaura Bari Taal and will know about how destruction affected Kedarnath and how the temple was safe under the rock.
The group will also trek from Kedarnath to Chaumasi. State government is planning to develop this route as an optional route for Kedarnath Yatra. The responsibility for the same has been given to the forest department. NIM has surveyed this 23 KM trek earlier also. Jal Malla, Tal Malla and dozens of similar villages are there after Chaumasi. These villages were most affected during 2013 destruction. These villages will also get benefited on development of trek route.
