Underground power line to be set up from Sonprayag to Kedarnath
After the disaster of June 2013, reconstruction work is going on to make Kedarnath beautiful and safe. Under this, there is a construction of underground power line from Sonprayag to Kedarnath Dham. These days’ six teams of the executive body are engaged in construction work at Kedarnath. Under the Special Project Assistance Reconstruction (SPAR) of the Government of India, 19.200 meters power line has to be undergrounded. The budget for the underground power line project is around 15.50 crore. Due to the 7 glacier zone and 10 crossing points located on the 850 meter walkway at different places, the power line should be carried forward with the help of 30 towers. By the end of this month, 8 towers will be set up by the construction agency. 8 more towers are to be setup till next month.
Power Line work to be completed by December
According to the officials of the Power Corporation, if the weather is co-ordinated, by the year 2019, all the work related to the power line will be completed and it will be linked to the GRID. With the completion of the Underground Power Line, regular electricity will remain in Dham with better voltage. Apart from this, one meter deep dig will be done on the whole route from Sonprayag to Kedarnath. In this depth, double circuit power cable will be laid, in which spot points will be made at a fixed distance.

Work of laying underground power line from Sonprayag to Kedarnath Dham has begun and it will be completed till December. These days, for laying the towers and underground power line, various places are being excavated. By February next year, the linking of the underground power line to the GRID will be done.
