Heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand has hindered progress of Char Dham Yatra, especially in Kedarnath. On the contrary, no major adverse incident has been witnessed so far. Around 1616 pilgrims have visited the Char Dhams and Hemkund Saheb yesterday. But due to heavy rainfall which occured last night, the pilgrims were advised to stay in safer zones today.
According to the Weather Bureaus forecast moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm was being witnessed across the state. The areas encircling Char Dham and parts of Kumaon division have been experiencing heavy rainfall since last afternoon. Due to the disturbed weather pilgrims from Kedarnath were taken to Sonprayag and Gaurikund by police and SDRF personnels yesterday. Meanwhile many pilgrims were waiting for the weather to clear. The Kedarnath road was blocked at some places while the Badrinath route was cleared till afternoon. It has been predicted by the Weather Bureau that Uttarakhand will experience rainfall for the next two days.
