Tehri District Magistrate (DM) Yugal Kishore Pant reviewed Char Dham Yatra preparations at a meeting held at the district headquarters in New Tehri last evening. He instructed oficials of various departments to complete the preparation work as soon as possible to ensure the pilgrims a hassle-free yatra.
Pant directed officials from Transport, Peyjal Nigam, Police, Health and Food Supply departments to ensure that all arrangements are complete one week before the yatra so that the pilgrims did not face inconvenience. He gave the instructions to set up temporary posts at all necessary places and provide the details of such posts to the district administration. He directed Border Roads Organisation officials to identify sensitive zones on national highways in the district and make adequate arrangements to deal with any eventuality. Officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) were directed to put in place safety measures on landslide-prone roads being maintained by the department in the district.
Tehri DM Pant also directed the SDM, Ghansali, to ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the markets of Ghansali and directed the executive officers of Chamba, New Tehri, Narendar Nagar, Dev Prayag, Kirti Nagar nagar panchayats and municipal councils to deploy adequate sanitary staff during the yatra.
He instructed Jal Sansthan officials to take care of the water supply for drinking water on the yatra route. Pant also directed the officials to identify 300 elderly people under the Merey Buzurg Merey Teerth project so that arrangements could be made for their free Char Dham Yatra by the government.
