The higher reaches received fresh spell of snow including Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines in Garhwal Himalayas and moderate rain in the low-lying areas on Friday which brought the normal life to a halt.
Disaster management officials said, The classes upto fifth standard remained suspended for the second consecutive day due to cold conditions in Chamoli district where it has been raining and snowing for the past three days causing a drop in temperature.
There has been fresh snowfall in both Kedarnath and Badrinath partially covering Kedarnath Deer Park and Nandadevi National Park, they said.
However, the administration is prepared to deal with any emergency, they claimed.
