Owing to the western disturbances the state is in spell of heavy snowfall in the higher reaches and rainfall in the low land areas. The famous shrines of Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib in Chamoli district were under the blanket of snow, whereas the low lying areas received rainfall.
The Meteorologica Department has forecasted heavy rainfall and snowfall in several regions of hill state. Especially Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts in the high altitude is likely to rain with snowfall. The state is covered with clouds since wednesday evening.
Dehradun, including several other regions of Garhwal Mandal received heavy rainfall in the early hours. However, Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib in Chamoli district received snowfall on the other hand low land areas were seen drizzling. Rudraprayag, Pauri and other districts also received light rain in the morning. While it was a clear sky in Kumaun region and snowed in the higher peaks.
The low lying areas received series of light drizzle continued intermittently. In some areas, there was hail, damaging the crops. Department of cloud and weather forecast remains that the rainfall is expected on Friday.
According to information from the weather center Friday Light to moderate rain-snow in most places in Uttarakhand may have. Somewhere especially Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts altitude 3500 meters or more in areas of relatively heavy rainfall can be heavy, while 20 cm of snow is expected to fall. Some parts in the state are also likely to hail.
