Among the major projects in Chardham, the road connecting Chardham in Uttarakhand is gaining limelight after speculations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit Uttarakhand on December 25 or 27 to lay the foundation stone of Rs 12,000 crore project.
An all weather road would connect all four shrines with two lane road. As per now there is no official confirmation, but since the project is very much crucial and forthcoming elections in Uttarakhand, PM Modi might visit and also announce some package for the hill state.
The four Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri would connect through two-lane roads of 889 km at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore. There will be construction of 14 tunnels, which will cover a distance of around 100 km connecting to the Char Dam, the distance by road will reduce to 813 from 389 km.
