Before the 2013 disaster, there were Hans, Havan, Retas, Udak and Amrit Kunds in Kedarnath in 200-300 meters area of the Kedarnath temple. All these ancient pools of Kedarnath Dham were buried in the rubble of flood. After the start of the reconstruction works, the working organization Nehru Mountaineering Institute discovered the Udak Kund buried in the rubble 200 meters away on the temple road. Amrit Kund behind the temple remained safe but Retas, Hans and Havan Kund are still not known.
On the other hand, under the reconstruction works, five view points have been made in the middle of the half kilometer long Aastha Path built on the banks of Saraswati river in Kedarnath. Four Pitra Ghats have been built in the middle of them. Five steps each have been made on these ghats from Aastha Path to the river. Manoj Semwal, the team in-charge of the working organization Wood Stone Construction Company, said that Pitra Ghat has been completed on the half-km long Aastha Path at a cost of 28 crores.
