In November last year, DDMA (District Disaster Management Authority) PWD had started the work of connecting the under-construction bridge on the Mandakini river, but due to heavy snowfall in winter, the work had to be stopped midway. Now, the reconstruction work of the second phase at Kedarnath will be resumed by DDMA from the first week of April. Along with this, the work of connecting 60 meters span bridge on the Mandakini river will also be completed, so that the devotees can go from Kedarnath to Garudchatti in the coming travel period. The construction of this bridge, which was to be built at a cost of four crores, was started in 2018, which will now be ready in no time.
Before the disaster, Garudchatti was the main residence of the sages and many pilgrims. There are also many small ancient temples here, but due to the flooding of the bridge over the Mandakini river in the disaster and the complete collapse of the Rambara, the contact of Garudchatti with Kedarnath has been cut off. DDMA Executive Engineer Praveen Karnwal said that approach roads are to be made along with connecting the under-construction bridge on the Mandakini river, which will be completed by May. With the completion of the bridge, devotees will be able to go from the temple area to Garudchatti.
