Under the yatra scheme “Mere Buzurg Mere Teerth”, third batch of senior citizens left for Badrinath Dham from Champawat on Saturday. MLA Harish Kharkwal flagged off the bus carrying 40 pilgrims. District Tourism Development Officer SS Yadav said third batch contains 40 pilgrims including 19 women. Travel in-charge Pan Singh Negi said the pilgrims will return to Champawat on 10 June. On this occasion, Sudhir Shah, Puran Ktayt, Mohan Joshi, Javed were present. All three batches involved 105 passengers in total.
Goal of registering 625 old age pilgrims reaches only 180
Under Humare buzurg Humare Teerth, the target of sending 625 senior citizen pilgrims is set for holy pilgrimage. However, registration of only 180 pilgrims is done so far. Under the plan, the person above 65 years of age are to be sent for free yatra to Gangotri or Badrinath dham.
