100 local women’s will get employment
The eatery shops will be placed at short distances along the trek route. Last year, these shops were allotted to private parties. This year, the higher authorities decided to promote local dishes to give “Uttarakhandi Touch” to the food served to pilgrims. From this initiative, the district administration is aiming to provide employment to almost 100 women for a period of 06 months.
Local Cuisines will be served in a box made of paper
District Magistrate Mangesh Ghildiyal, who initiated the project, said that the restaurant’s served food items like Chainsu (Made from Urad or Kali Dal), Mandua ki Roti, Phanu, Jhangore ki Kheer & Gulgala (A local sweet). The eateries would be packed in the special paper bags, made especially for Pilgrims. He also said that “At present, we have a set-up of accommodation for around 2000 pilgrims. Once the repair works of damaged fabricated huts are completed, we will also be able to provide overnight staying facilities to 4,000 devotees”. DM Ghildiyal also claimed that the project will have a positive impact on the state’s economy. “Firstly, our cuisines will be promoted among peoples coming from the other parts of the country. Secondly, the demand for local products will go up. Third and most importantly employed will be generated in the valley.
