Now total 13 holy sites linked under this scheme
In this scheme, Kalar Sharif (Haridwar), Tadkeshwar (Pauri), Kalimath (Rudraprayag), Jageshwar (Almora), Gairad Golu (Bageshwar), Gangolihat (Pithoragarh), Mahasu Devta Hanol (Dehradun), Kalinka (Pauri Garhwal), Jwalpa ( Pauri Garhwal) has also been included. Other sites are Badrinath (Chamoli), Gangotri, Nanakmatta and Reetha Sahib.
Under the scheme, senior citizens of Uttarakhand will be able to avail the scheme by registering in the District Tourism Development offices. Registration will be done on the basis of “first come first serve”. Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council Chairman and Tourism Minister, Satpal Maharaj said that the senior citizens of the state who cannot visit high places due to health and weather-related reasons, they will also be able to take advantage of this scheme. He said that under the scheme, the holy places of all religions have been included.
What is Pandit Deen Dayal Matra-Pitra Nishulk Tirthatan Yojana?
This scheme is previously known as “Mere Buzurg Mere Tirth Yojna”. The Uttarakhand Tourism Department is providing free tour for senior citizens to the holy places of Uttarakhand i.e. Kalar Sharif (Haridwar), Tadkeshwar (Pauri), Kalimath (Rudraprayag), Jageshwar (Almora), Gairad Golu (Bageshwar), Gangolihat (Pithoragarh), Mahasu Devta Hanol (Dehradun), Kalinka (Pauri Garhwal), Jwalpa ( Pauri Garhwal), Badrinath (Chamoli), Gangotri, Nanakmatta and Reetha Sahib.
Applications for this scheme are available at tourism department office and tehsils offices. One can take the application from these offices on any day of the week including Sundays.
