On July 31, the 18 km long Gaurikund-Kedarnath walking route was affected at 29 places due to heavy rains, out of which the road was destroyed at 16 places. PWD has made the road suitable for horse-mule movement and foot traffic. But now this road will be widened.
Executive Engineer of PWD Guptkashi-Kedarnath Vinay Jhinquan said that Rs. 21 crores will be spent for providing adequate width on the entire footpath, construction of broken footpaths, permanent solution to landslides and subsidence zones, simplifying sharp turns, reconstruction of demolished footpaths as per the standards. 29 proposals costing more than Rs. All these proposals will be sent to the government. Necessary work will also be done to ensure that there is less damage to the footpath due to rain.
A bailey bridge will be installed on the Mandakini river in Rambada, which was affected by disaster and heavy rainfall, on the Gaurikund-Kedarnath foot route. For this, preliminary survey has been completed here. Soon the bailey bridge will be procured and installed.
