Even when there is light rain in Kedarnath, it is normal to have temperature below zero. In such a situation the health of the pilgrims worsens due to cold. Keeping this in mind, electric blankets are being sent by administration to Gaurikund, Jungalchatti, Bhimbali, Lincholi and base camp of Kedarnath.
During freezing and damping in the rain these blankets helps to maintain the temperature of body. District Magistrate Mangesh Ghildiyal said that the weather is adverse at Kedarnath often. Especially in the rainy season, pilgrims have to face all the difficulties. In such a situation, the chances of getting heart attack increased due to cold.
Kedarnath Pilgrims to have Umbrella during rain & snow
These electric blankets help in heating the body immediately. He told that the blankets will be sent to all health centers till the last week of May. At the same time, the Umbrella is also being provided by the police-administration to save the passengers from rain and snow, standing in line in front of the temple in Kedarnath for rain and snow. After the visit, the pilgrims will have to return the umbrella.
Chief Medical Officer SK Jha said that at starting only hundred electric blankets are being sent. After this more blankets will be sent according to need. The good thing is that this year, the death rate from the heart attack of passengers coming to visitkedarnath is lesser than the previous year. Yet the effort of the department is to reduce it. All possible efforts are being made for this.
