Devprayag is a small town in the Pauri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand near Rishikesh. Devprayag is situated at a height of 2,700 feet, famous as the place where the River Ganga first takes its form – resulting from the confluence of the Bhagirathi and the Alaknanda Rivers. In Sanskrit ” Devaprayaga” means “Godly Confluence”. Adventurous Activities such as trekking and river rafting can also be done at Devprayag.

Traditionally, it is considered to be the place where sage Devasharma led his ascetic life, giving birth to its present name, Devprayag. It is one of the five sacred confluences in the hills and is an important place of pilgrimage for Hindu devotees.
