The weather in Uttarakhand will be clear on Sunday, but Kedarnath, Badrinath and Hemkund yatra is currently suspended. Badrinath highway is blocked near Lambagad and Hanumanchatti. Some devotees did darshan of Kedar baba by helicopter. However, on late Saturday evening pilgrims staged a sit-in in Sonprayag demanding visit to Kedarnath which ended late at night. The air-lifting of stranded travellers to Joshimath continued on Sunday.
The blockage of Badrinath highway in Chamoli owing to landslides caused by rainfall on Thursday paralysed the route at several places. BRO personnel are working on removing the debris from Lambagad, Hnumanchatti, Hathipahad etc. Many travellers are stuck at stage of Hemkund Sahib, Ghangharia for which the rescue operation is active by chopper. For security reasons, Kedarnath travel is now adjourned until 30 June. Kedarnath-Gaurikund highway is opened only till Sonprayag. A bridge is demolished about four hundred metres ahead of Sonprayag. Along with it a road is damaged near Munkatia. Hence, pilgrims are not allowed to go beyond Sonprayag.
