Whereas, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham will traditionally open on Akshaya Tritiya. The opening of Gangotri Dham will be decided on the auspicious day of new Samvatsar at Mukhwa and the opening of Yamunotri Dham will be decided on the day of Yamuna Jayanti at Kharsali. In this way, the Chardham shrines are expected to open in mid-May.
Auspicious Day of Badrinath Dham opening will be decided at Narendranagar Palace
The date of opening of the kapats of Badrinath Dham will be decided on Basant Panchami i.e. 16th February after the Panchang calculation in the court of Narendranagar. The program of date announcement will start at 9:30 am in the Palace. On this day, the day of Gadu Ghada (Oil Kalash) Yatra will also be fixed. After worshiping at Narsingh Temple Joshimath and Yoga Dhyan Badri Pandukeshwar, the Gadu Ghdra (Tel Kalash) will arrive at Dharamshala in Chandrabhaga of Devasthanam Board on 15 February. It will be handed over to the court on 16 February. In this holy pot, oil of sesame oil will be brought to Badrinath Dham by the Dimri priests on the occasion of opening of the kapat for the consecration of Lord BadriVishal.
