The worldwide famous Char Dham Yatra which for which pilgrims had been waiting so enthusiastically is all set to begin from today. On the auspicious occassion of Akshaya Tritiya the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri are schedule to opened at 8.30 am today. However, Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham portals will open on April 24.
The first batch of more than 1,000 pilgrims has already left for Kedarnath from Rishikesh.
The administration has made special arrangements for pilgrims this year to make a hassle free yatra. Despite bearing the brunt of nature with intermittent snowfall and aberrant rainfall the administration is feverishly on work clearing the route, putting boulders and rocks aside, repairing roads, making lodging arrangements, etc. The administration will also punish wit penalties to anyone charging more from the pilgrims than the fixed rate, also their registration will be cancelled.
Directions of opening a clinic at every bus stand have also been given to facilitate people with health related problems. Besides, a control room would be set up soon so that pilgrims can contact the officials without any hassles.
Sub-divisional magistrate Santosh Rawat said some 60 buses will be operated from Tehri route for the convenience of char dham pilgrims. The irrigation department is constructing the safety walls by installing wire crates on the banks of river Alaknanda at Lambagar.
