About Budha Kedar

History and Legend of Budha Kedar Temple
According to the legend, during the Mahabharata era, after the battle of Kurukshetra the Pandavas went out to look out for Lord Shiva. On their way, they encountered Rishi Balkhily at Bhrigu Parvat. The rishi then sent them to meet an old man who was meditating at the site of the confluence.
When they reached at the confluence, the old man vanished and instead of that a Huge Shiv Linga appeared. Pandavas was asked by Rishi Balkhily to embrace the shiv Linga if they want to free themselves from the sins that they have committed. They did this by leaving their impressions stamped on the Shiv Linga. This shiv Linga is considered as one of the biggest shiv Linga in northern India.
