About Buddha Temple, Dehradun
Buddha temple is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dehradun. It is located in Clement town and is regarded as one of the largest Buddhist centers in India. History of Budhha Temple, Dehradun
This temple of Buddha is a very high celebrated Tibetan religious site. In late 1965 this temple was built by Kochen Rinpoche and few other monks. The aim of this temple was to protect the religious and cultural understanding off Buddhism. It is a replica of the original temple monastery in Tibet. It was built as one of the four Tibetan religion schools and named ‘Nyingma’ or old translation school.

Architecture of Buddha Temple
The buddha temple is made by a unique Japanese style architecture. It was believed that 50 artists together made this unique design of the temple and paintings. This temple was built in about 3 years. It has five floors which enshrine the idols of Lord Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava.
First three floors of the temple are decorated with intricate gold color wall paintings. The fourth floor consists of an open platform, from where you can see a panoramic view of the Dehradun valley.

Buddha temple authorities take care of the lamas and also provide them free accommodation, clothing, food, and many other facilities. Temple garden and the shops and open for full week but the temple remains closed for Sunday only for public. Visitors are also requested to remove shoes before entering the main hall of Buddha temple.
There is also shoe check at the temple, where they will provide you with a token at a nominal fair. The authorities have also placed many dustbins in the Buddha Garden so that there is no litter around and the environment remains clean.

You can visit this temple anytime but on Sundays the temple remains closed only the complex is open. So, it is advisable to visit this place anytime from Monday to Saturday.
