Bhavishya Badri is a part of the Panch Badri. Panch Badri is a group of five Hindu Temples. This circuit includes Badrinath, Yogdhya Badri, Adi Badri and Vridhaa Badri. It is also the part of Sapta Badri pilgrimage.
The Bhavishya Badri temple is the Badrinath of the future. This temple is at Subain, which is about 17 km from Joshimath to the east towards Lata. Bhavishya Badri temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu it is situated beyond Tapovan, up the Dhauliganga river and it also involves a trek of about 3 km from the motor road. It is situated at an altitude of 2744 mts. And is located in dense forest. The bank of Dhauli ganges river is situated on an ancient pilgrimage place of Kailash and Man Sarovar mountains. It is the fourth temple complex among the Sapta Badri temple. It is a part of the Char Dham Yatra package within Uttarakhand. Bhavishya Badri temple is dedicated to Narasimha (the lion face) that is one of the 10 avatars of lord Shiva.
This temple extends from Satapanth to Nandaprayag in the Alaknanda River valley. In ancient times, the path that leads you to the temple is through the Badri van. Hence, from that the suffix of Badri is added to the seven holy shrines of Lord Vishnu.
Many devotees believe it to be the future adobe of Badrinath at the end of the kali yuga when there will be destruction of this present world and creation of a new world. this temple has a sculpture of lord Narsimha which is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu with a lion’s head.
This temple is also important in Char Dham Yatra as is also associated with Narsingh Badri temple through the mythology.
Legend says that a prophecy was made when shri Adi Shankaracharya took Badri Vishal from Tapa Kund. According to that prophecy, at the end of this Kaliyuga the Nara and Narsimha mountains will be blocked in their path of Badrinath and make the journey inaccessible.
Because of this, Lord Badri will take adobe in Bhavishya Badri. From that time onwards this place will be the worship place of the devotees. The name will be translated to Future Badri because it will be the future residence of Lord Badri.
The temple of Narsingh has a beautiful carved statue of Lord Narsingh carrying a sword which is located at Joshimath. The arm of this statue which is carrying the sword is getting thinner year by year, and in Kaliyuga it is believed that this arm will break down.
