Adi Badri Temple
Adi Badri temple is a famous and ancient temple of the Hindus located 17km from Karanprayag on the Karanprayag- Ranikhet road in Chamoli district. It is located on the confluence of Pindar river and Akaknanda river. It was built during Gupta period and from 5th century to 8th century, it is also a part of the famous ‘PANCH BADRI’. It was also believed that these temples were constructed by Adi Shankaracharya with an objective to promote Hindu religion in every remote part of the country. It is a group of sixteen temples, the main temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is made of 3.3 feet high black stone which makes it different. It also has the word ‘Badrinath’ inscribed to symbolize Lord Vishnu.
Adi Badri is surrounded by calm areas with a musical tone of river flowing in the background. This temple also serves as a milestone for all people that are going to visit Badrinath.

Mythology About Adi Badri
It was believed that Lord Vishnu used to live in Adi Badri during Satyug, Treta and Dwapar. At the time of Kalyug he shifted to Badrinath, that is why it is known as Adi Badri. It is also believed that Maha Rishi VedViyas who divided the veda into Rigveda, Samveda, Yajurveda and Atharvedawrote Shri Mad Bhagwat Puran at this spot. This place is also known as the emerging spot of Saraswati river. Whenever the roads of Badrinath is closed due to some weather conditions, Adi Badri is known as the best place to worship Lord Vishnu. People also believe that the Pandavas also came here after they gave up their kingdom Hastinapur to king Parikshit.

- Krishna Janamashtmi, a popular festival celebrated on the birth of Lord Krishna.
- Makar Sankranti, the festival celebrated in January.

Best Time To Visit Adi Badri Temple
The best time to visit Adi Badri is between the months of May to June and September to October. Travelling here in these months are very soothing and enjoyable. In winter the hills are covered with snow and the temperature drops to minus and also in there are chances of slides.
