Gangotri Temple closed to the public for winters
Earlier, the crown of Mother Ganga was lowered at 08:00 am and the doors were closed at 11:40 am at the auspicious Annakut Festival. After closing the doors, the entire atmosphere became devotional as soon as the idol of Mother Ganga came out of the temple premises after riding in the doli. At 1:00 pm the Chief Priest of Gangotri Temple went to foot with Doli of Maa Ganga carrying the Idol of Goddess Ganga with with the tune of the army band and reached Mukhba Temple at her winter abode. Now, during the winter season, Goddess Ganga will be worshipped in the Mukhba Village. Gangotri MLA Gopal Singh Rawat and Uttarkashi District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan were also present on the occasion of the closure of the temple, along with the crowd of devotees and other priests.
