327 km long rail line will be built in this project
A 327-kilometer long rail line will be set up to connect the Chardham which will cost about 50 thousand crore rupees. Railway plans to connect the Chardham with railway lines within ten years. According to the survey done by the Railways, 153 km long rail line will be laid by Doiwala to connect Gangotri and Yamunotri. While 174-kilometer long line for Badrinath–Kedarnath from Karnaprayag will be laid. At present, work is being done to lay 127 km of the railway line from Rishikesh to Karnprayag.
50,000 crore rupees will be spent on the project
Omprakash Malgudi, Project Manager, Railway Vikas Nigam Limited, said that 21 crore rupees spent on the final survey of Doiwala-Gangotri-Yamunotri Route and Rs.22 crore spent on the survey of Karnprayag-Badri-Kedar railway line. 50,000 crore rupees will be spent for linking the Chardhams to the rail network. It will take ten years to lay the rail line. Within two years of getting approval from the railway ministry, the work of laying the rail line will begin.

Rishikesh, Shivpuri, Byasi, Devprayag, Maletha, Srinagar, Dhari, Rudraprayag, Gholtir, Gauchar, Karnprayag, Saaikot, Tripak, Tartoli, Joshimath
Stations between Karnprayag to Kedarnath:
Karnprayag, Sivai, Saaikot, Bairath, Chopta, Makkumath, Sonprayag
Station between Doiwala to Gangotri-Yamunotri:
Doiwala, Sangatiyawala, Shardhawala, Aampata, Marod, Kandisaur, Chinyalisaur, Dunda, Atali (Uttarkashi), Ladari, Maneri
Note: There will be a separate train to Yamunotri from Atali.
