Legends & Myths Related to Udaykund
It is said that pilgrims who visited Kedarnath, takes the water of Udaykund with himself. The water is considered has sacred for water purification. It is also believed that acceptance of this divine water leads to liberation of human beings. Years ago, there was also a possibility that there is a sign of Mercury in this water. It seems that since the disaster of 2013, people had to be deprived of Udaykund water but now soon the pilgrims will get the opportunity to take the virtue of Udaykund.
Dimension of Udaykund
Bharat Kapravan, PWDs Junior engineer, said that the foundation has been improved for the protection of water coming out of ancient times in Udaykund. 300 local stones are being used to make this trough. The size of the trough is 4 feet deep, 10 feet wide and 10 feet long. The reconstruction of the trough will be completed within one and a half weeks.

According to DM Rudrarprayag Mangesh Ghildiyal, after a lot of efforts, the work of Udaykund has been started in Kedarnath. Government and administration are trying to preserve and revive all the places connected with importance of Kedarnath Dham. Efforts will also be made to find Hanskund.
