Local handicraftsmen looking for good Chardham yatra season this year. They are expecting better revenues compare to last seasons after 2013 floods. For the past seasons the handicrafts items were not sold due to low pilgrims turnout. Specially the artisans from Dunda to Harsil have been in severe loss as their primary occupation is to sell woolen clothes, crafts items and other local products.
The livelihood of many families in the region is directly and indirectly connected to chardham yatra season. Over 50% families get whole year income from the chardham yatra. After the floods, the chardham yatra was afftected badly. Now the situation getting better and the locals are looking positive for their livelihood to rise in this season. Specially the people of Dunda, Uttarkashi, Maneri, Bhatwari, Gangnari, Bagori, Harsil and Dharali are excited about selling of woolen garments and handicrafts.
