The doors of Yamunotri Temple, the first among the Char Dhams in Uttarakhand, have been opened for the devotees to visit on the holy festival of Akshaya Tritiya. From the winter halt Kharsali, Mother Yamuna left for Doli Dham at 6.15 am with the beat of Dhol-Damau and the tune of the Home Guard band.
After special worship of Mother Yamuna, the doors of the Dham were opened at the auspicious time at 10:29 am with rituals. On this occasion, a large number of devotees reached the Dham to have darshan of Mother Yamuna and sought blessings for happiness and prosperity.
In the early hours of Friday, for the inauguration of the doors of Yamunotri Dham, puja and abhishek had started in the Yamuna temple located at Kharsali Khushimath, the winter stop of Yamuna. After special puja in the temple, Maa Yamuna’s doli was brought out from the temple at 6.15 in a pre-determined programme. Who left for the Dham with the cheers of the devotees along with her brother Shani Maharaj’s palanquin.
After covering a distance of five kilometers on foot from Jankichatti, the Doli Yatra reached Yamunotri Dham at around 10 o’clock.
Special worship of Mother Yamuna was performed here. Later, with rituals, the doors of Yamunotri Dham were opened for the devotees at the auspicious time at exactly 10:29 am.
On this occasion, the devotees who reached the Dham took bath in hot water ponds and had darshan of Mother Yamuna.
