According to Weather Bureaus forecast about heavy rainfall in the areas of Uttarakhand, people spend their day in apprehension and fear of deluge on Sunday. Due to heavy rainfall which occured on Saturday 05 km Gaurikund–Kedarnath walkway has been damaged from its focal point. The pilgrimage walkabout was unable to resume on Sunday due to this incident. Around 378 devotees who were coming from visiting the shrine were taken safely to Gaurikund and Sonprayag by the Police men and SDRF officers. On account of the warning given by Weather Bureau the State Administration is alarmed. The situation will be closely observed and full attention will be paid to it.
For the restoration of Kedarnath trek labour, policemen and SDRF officers were present on the site. The trek at Cheerbasa was made in the evening for carrying on the yatra. At late evening debris fell from the hills due to which the trek has been temporarily closed at two places near Junglechatti and Bheembali.
On Sunday afternoon around 3’O clock it started raining in the walkabout areas. If the weather will remain fine on Monday then the trek will be opened for the pilgrimage to resume their yatra. The Badrinath yatra continued on Sunday while safety precautions were being taken by the authorities. On reaching Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib yatras head staging post Joshimath, Chamoli districts DM Mr.Ashok Kumar analyzed the arrangement done by the authorities. He will stay at Joshimath for the next three days.
