Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat confirmed recommencement of Char Dham Yatra after the few days suspension due to inclement weather conditions.
CM reviewed the construction work in calamity affected areas. Addressing a meeting there he instructed officials to deploy more State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and policemen along the Char Dham Yatra route.
He ensured of all necessary arrangements required to combat disaster. Chppers have been deployed for rescue operations and sufficient JCBs and other equipments have been given to the rescue tem to carry out disaster work quickly in case it strikes in future.
Additional Chief Secretary Rakesh Sharma is also directed by the CM to deploy the SDM at Govindghat and other areas vulnerable to disaster, while one DSP each should be appointed at Sonprayag-Kedarnath, Govindghat-Hemkunt and the Joshimath– Badrinath route.
Rawat asked the officials to make sure PWD superintending engineers presence at Govindghat and other disaster-prone areas. The CM also said that the pilgrims should be made aware of the latest weather forecast regularly through SMS.
