The rainfall in Uttarkahnd has started affecting daily life of the people. Badrinath Highway closed at several places have been opened. While the helicopter service remained closed in Kedarnath until 11 am because of heavy rainfall. The trek route to Kedarnath yatra is currently closed. Monday morning, 175 travelers left for Hemkund on foot. The hill districts of Kumaun is experiencing rainfall. Power failure occurred in Dehradun, Rishikesh, etc. because of the storm.
Mostly places received heavy rainfall from Sunday night until Monday morning. Badrinath highway blocked at Lambagad and Bainakuli. The pilgrims are moving to Badrinath from here for darshan. The highway was opened at two in the noon for public. On clearing the sky in Chamoli a batch of 175 people left for Hemkund from Govindghat gurudwara.
Although administration had advised pedestrian pilgrims not to go further seeing the weather, but the pilgrims did not agree. While air service continues for Badrinath and Hemkund. Kedarnath highway is active till Sonprayag. The highway bridge is demolished four hundred meters ahead of Sonprayag.
Also pedestrian bridge is in vulnerable condition. The blocked path near Muntakia is not yet fixed due to which paidal yatra is disrupted. The passengers can go Kedarnath only by helicopter. On Monday the air service was stopped as the rain started around eight in the morning till eleven. Which was reinstated after clear weather. The weather is clear after overnight rain in Uttarkashi. Because of open highway the Yamunotri and Gangotri yatra is active.
