The heavy downpour resulting in broken roads and collapsing bridges has arose various questions in front of CM Rawat. But in response he saved the situation saying the on Friday that the yatra has been regulated, and not suspended. He said the yatra is completely safe.
The government has evacuated all stranded pilgrims from Kedarnath and Hemkund. The ferrying by the chopper will be done on Saturday too in Kedarnath. He cleared the situation that the yatra has not suspended, instead controlled. He said fixing the broken bridge in Sonprayag might take some time. More arrangements will be made in rest of the places. After which the yatra will be resumed. He told the heavy rainfall has caused the loss of approximately 50 crores to the state.
He immediately left for the state from his Delhi tour for checking the aggravated situations from rain. Interacting with the reporters in Bijapur State Guest House he said the reports of stranded pilgrims and suspending char dham yatra are false. Because of inclement weather the pilgrims are halted in safer places. He told some parts have received significant loss, a road swept away in Lambagad and a bridge collapsed in Sonprayag. The fixing process process of these two may take one to two days.
No pilgrim is stuck in Hemkund Sahib route either. Some have been moved to Ghangharia and some to Gurudwara. A few bridges have collapsed there too which are currently under construction. After which, the batch halted in Ghangharia will be sent further. On being asked about Mansarovar yatra he said the govenment is keeping an eye there too. In times of need air services will be provided even there.
