Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat pronounced today that various efforts to boost char dham yatra are in the process for the safety of pilgrims visiting the Char Dhams in the hill state.
Responding to the question posed to the state Tourism Minister by BJP’s Madan Kaushik in the Assembly, Rawat said in order to revive tourist interest in the char yatra after 2013 deluge government is acting accordingly and have been taking several measures since then.
The government is also discussing with tour operators to find out ways of advertising and boosting the char cham yatra through our websites, he reported.
Rawat has expressed hope that the chardham yatra which was affected badly by the ravaging flood in 2013, and begins next month, will be conducted keeping in mind the safety of pilgrims.

However, tourist inflow was seen to be 2.84 crore in 2012 an year before calamity struck the state in 2013, he said.
Though there is no proposal to plan a policy on tourism, but numerous projects are being run to encourage the sector, including a including a rural tourism promotion scheme, ‘Mere Bujurg mere Teerth’ under which people above 60 years of age can visit the chardham for free, and biometric registration of people who undertake the annual yatra, Dhanai said.
He also told that CM Rawat is himself checking preparations for the chardham yatra on a regular basis to make sure that people have a safe yatra.
The minister said a chardham control room to provide yatra related information to visitors has already been set up at the Uttarakhand Tourism Council headquarters at Garhi cantt, and advertisements on the chardham yatra will also be out soon.
