It was the first time when Kedarnath witnessed Republic day celebrations. The history was created by NIM (Nehru Institute of Mountaineering) team, which hoisted the Indian Tri-Colour Flag and sung National Anthem in the Kedarnath Ghati.
NIM Principal Colonel Ajay Kothiyal said, "Uttarakhand opted for Kedarnath as the tableau theme for this year’s Republic Day celebrations in Delhi. This selection gives us great pride as we are involved in the reconstruction work in Kedarnath."
Till last year, the holy township of Kedarnath would be deserted during January, as the season of Char Dham yatra closes after November. The portals of Kedarnath closed in winters and everyone abandons the township due to harsh conditions.
However, this years members of NIM, who are carrying the construction work around the shrine (after the flash floods of 2013) stayed back and continued to work to make it accessible for pilgrims.
Today morning at 10:19am Governer of Uttarakhand Mr. K. K. Paul arrived Kedarnath Dham. He was accompanied by DM Rudrapryag Mr. Raghav Linger, SP Rudrapyrag, and Additional Chief Secretary- Rakesh Sharma.
Colonel Ajay Kothiyal gave briefing on Kedarnath Restoration work to the Governor. Here, Governor got introduced with the ATV (All Terrain Vehicle). He met the workers, and appraised their job.
