At the same time, on Monday, CM Dhami sent a team of 25 members to find the old routes of Chardham, congratulating them. He said that it is a proud moment that we have a young force to explore the old trails of Uttarakhand. This will prove to be an important step in preserving our age-old heritage.
Decades ago the Chardham Yatra used to be on foot from Rishikesh. Due to lack of road facilities, pilgrims used to reach Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath through this route. There were chutes on the pedestrian path, where travelers used to rest for the night. The ancient road is closed by traffic and road facilities. In order to promote winter and adventure tourism, the government and tourism department have started an exercise to beautify this old way of Chardham.
A Reiki team is being sent to find the way to Chardham. Which will study the entire route and gather information one by one with videography and photography. The team will cover the old route of about 1200 km in 50 days. Experts from SDRF, tourism, mountaineering have been included in the team. In addition, the team will also have a GPS system. With which their location will be known every moment.
