The Health Secretary, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure the health and safety of pilgrims during the Char Dham Yatra. The state government has released health guidelines and SOPs in 12 languages (Hindi, English, Telugu, Manipuri, Gujarati, Malayalam, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, and Tamil) to help pilgrims prepare for the journey.
The Health Secretary has also written to all state health secretaries, urging them to promote pre-journey health check-ups, safety precautions, and medical preparedness for the pilgrims.
Medical support will be available at screening points, emergency services, and helipads.
The government has arranged for doctors, medical staff, oxygen cylinders, and essential medicines at key points along the route.
Health advisory materials, including “Do’s & Don’ts” for the yatra, have been prepared for public awareness.

The government has requested other states to send volunteer doctors specializing in cardiology, orthopedics, and surgery to provide medical assistance at hospitals along the pilgrimage route.
These specialists are expected to serve for at least 15 days.
28 types of health tests will be conducted, including blood pressure, sugar levels, and oxygen saturation checks.
Screening points will be set up and linked to registration points to ensure pilgrims undergo health checks before starting the journey.
Additional medical relief points will be set up along the route, staffed by trained medical professionals and health volunteers.
Health ATMs will be installed at several locations to provide free health check-ups for blood pressure, sugar levels, oxygen levels, weight, height, and body temperature.
24/7 telemedicine services will be available for remote consultations with expert doctors.
On the Kedarnath route, 10 medical relief posts and two primary healthcare centers (PHCs) will be operational.
Health ATMs will be installed at Guptkashi, Phata, Gaurikund, and Narayankoti for free medical screening.
Take breaks: During Kedarnath and Yamunotri Yatra, rest for 10 minutes every 1-2 hours. Carry essential items: Wear warm clothes, raincoats, carry an umbrella, pulse oximeter, and a thermometer. For High-Risk Patients: Pilgrims with heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, or diabetes should carry their medicines and doctor’s contact details. Recognize symptoms: If you experience chest pain, difficulty breathing, dizziness, or nausea, visit the nearest medical relief point immediately.
