Commissioner Garhwal Mandal on Wednesday convened a meeting of all the District Magistrates, Senior Superintendents of Police and officers of major departments of Garhwal Division about the preparation of Char Dham Yatra in the Municipal Corporation Auditorium of Rishikesh. He gave necessary guidelines related to travel preparation to all departments.
Commissioner Dr. Ravinath Raman said that registration has been made necessary for all the pilgrims who visit the Char Dham Yatra. As before, photo-metric registration will be arranged on Rishikesh Haridwar and Yatra Marg. Regarding the number of pilgrims in the yatra in view of the coronavirus infection, the commissioner said that it would depend on the situation at that time.
In this regard, the steps will be taken as per the guidelines issued by the state government. He said that for this reason passenger registration has been made compulsory. So that if the number of devotees at the Char Dham has to be limited according to SO PK or the government will say that RT PCR check is mandatory for every devotee, then it can be decided on the basis of registration. The commissioner said that the tourism department and Devasthanam board will apply whatever system is applicable under the SOP to the devotees.
